Amazon, in case you have been living under a rock for the past few years, is an online store from which you can buy pretty much anything.
Recently I bought two items from Amazon, telling it to charge my card (I double-checked) but it charged my mother’s card, which was on record from a previous transaction.
My Mother, after seeing the charges on her account, called up Amazon demanding the reason for the charges, and they told her they had originated from an account belonging someone in the same household as her, but they refused to tell her who.
After a couple of hours, she discovered that the charges had originated from my Amazon account. I then paid my Mother the charges, thinking that would be the end of it, but boy was I wrong.
Two weeks later I had received an email saying that Amazon had initiated an investigation about the charges, without telling my Mother, and will pay the money into her account in the near future, demanding that I pay that money, and until I did, I wouldn’t be able to use my account.
They then did this, but failed to notify neither me, nor my Mother (who hadn’t noticed the transaction on her account). They then took that money back from her account (as it was still on record) which shocked my Mother quite a bit, and we spent quite a while searching her account for any other transaction.
Now, a month and a half, after the initial transaction, the ordeal is almost over. Now all I have to do is send back one of the items I bought that doesn’t work.
Poor work Amazon, its safe to say I will not be using you again.
Update #1: I returned the item over a month ago, and I still haven’t gotten the refund. Amazon claims to have returned the money but it does not show up on mine, nor my Mothers, bank statements.
Update #2: All money has since been refunded, but it took a bloody long time.
